Sweet Wood was born from a simple but powerful idea: that one of Sri Lanka's oldest, most treasured ingredients could become one of the world's most effective tools for modern wellness. Our story begins in the coastal cinnamon heartlands of Sri Lanka, where our founding family has been part of the spice trade for nearly a century. Yet, despite Ceylon Cinnamon's global reputation for purity, its most meaningful health benefits remained hidden behind the limitations of traditional processing. In 2018, we set out to change that. As a women-led team blending science, heritage, and entrepreneurship, we believed that Ceylon Cinnamon could do more — and that the world deserved a cleaner, clinically validated, and truly effective form of this remarkable ingredient. This mission led to the creation of SaaraLabs, our research and nutraceutical innovation arm, and ultimately to Sweet Wood. Our journey accelerated when we developed a breakthrough extraction method that concentrates the full spectrum of beneficial polyphenols without using any solvents. This innovation unlocked what traditional methods couldn't: a potent, standardized extract of Ceylon Cinnamon that could be proven to work. To validate this promise, we conducted the largest clinical trial ever performed on Ceylon Cinnamon, published in the peer-reviewed journal PLoS One. The science results gave us the confidence to bring Sweet Wood to life. In 2024, we launched Sweet Wood Shots: small, great-tasting daily functional shots that make metabolic wellness simple, natural, and accessible. With three flavors — Pure Cinnamon, Cinnamon + Hibiscus, and Cinnamon + Passion Fruit — our products blend Sri Lankan authenticity with evidence-based formulation and modern convenience. From our roots in Sri Lanka's spice gardens to global recognition as a SIAL Innovation finalist, our mission has remained the same: to elevate Ceylon Cinnamon from a commodity to a health-enhancing ritual, and to share the power of this ancient ingredient with the world. Sweet Wood is not just a product — it is a celebration of heritage, science, and a belief that nature, when respected and understood, can change lives.
