Taha Kava was founded in 2024 on Maui as a joint venture between Pauwela Beverage Company, a well-established Hawai'i beverage brand with over five years of experience producing kombucha, water kefir, and functional sodas, and Haleakava, one of the islands' most respected kava bar businesses. The inspiration came from a shared vision: to take the cultural and community power of kava- long celebrated in Polynesia as a drink for relaxation, connection, and storytelling - and bring it into a modern format that could be enjoyed anytime, anywhere. By combining Pauwela Beverage's expertise in large-scale production and distribution with Haleakava's deep roots in kava culture, we created a sparkling, sugar-free kava drink that makes this ancient tradition accessible to today's health-conscious, sober-curious consumer. What started as an idea to share kava beyond the walls of the bar quickly became a movement - Taha is now on shelves in more than 80 retail locations across Hawai'i and preparing to expand to the mainland U.S. with co-packing partners. Our journey is fueled by the belief that kava can change how the world relaxes - offering not just a drink, but a meaningful alternative to alcohol that builds connection and celebrates Polynesian heritage.
