Amza Superfoods

Amza Superfoods was founded in 2023 in Portland, Oregon, by me, Jolma, motivated by my rich heritage and a desire to share the profound culinary traditions of Tibet. Growing up in the Amdo region, where the Dalai Lama was born, I belonged to a nomadic family and a lineage of yogis. My grandmother, an illiterate nomad, taught me the importance of education with her words: "To discover the world, one must move beyond her own kitchen." This led my journey, propelling me to become the first girl from my village to earn a college degree and venture from Asia to Europe, and eventually to America, where I learned English from scratch at age 30. Despite a successful 17-year career as a UX Design Consultant, I realized my true joy lay in cooking—creating meals that sing with flavor and heritage. In 2022, I took a leap of faith and transitioned away from my corporate career to start Amza Superfoods. My journey began with a memoir cookbook celebrating Tibetan traditions and highlighting the experiences of disadvantaged Tibetan women, including my beloved grandmother. Amza Superfoods is unique as the first company in the USA to introduce ancient Tibetan nutrition, crafted from wholesome ingredients with NO added sugars, additives or anything artificial. Our products, including "Tibetan Tsamba Balls with Oregon Hazelnuts," have already been recognized as a Top Specialty Food Trend by the Specialty Food Association. We are committed to sustainable practices, sourcing climate-resilient grains from local farmers, and empowering marginalized communities. Each product not only nourishes the body but also tells the story of an underrepresented culture. Additionally, we strive to sponsor Tibetan girls for higher education, ensuring that our mission enriches lives on both sides of the globe. Through Amza Superfoods, I now celebrate my heritage and share nourishing, authentic Tibetan foods that many have yet to discover.
