While working on an architecture project, he discovered hempcrete and became fascinated with hemp's benefits. This curiosity sparked the idea of exploring seeds as nutrient powerhouses and incorporating them into snacks. Mateen started experimenting with seed-based recipes and shared his creations with friends, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback. Motivated by this, he partnered with Cornell University to refine his formulas for commercial production. Between 2019 and 2022, Mateen tested over 20 products and developed SEEDLY, ultimately perfecting the flagship product: SEED BARK.
