Tidewater Grain Co. was founded on a simple belief: if we take care of the land, it will take care of us. Our story began in the fields of coastal North Carolina, where farming and conservation have always gone hand in hand. What started with a desire to create and preserve habitat for migrating waterfowl grew into a vertically integrated grain company dedicated to bringing remarkable heirloom grains back to the American table. At the heart of Tidewater is Carolina Gold Rice—America’s first rice, with roots dating back to 1685. We grow these historic grains from our own seed, farm them ourselves, then mill, package, and distribute them under our care. Controlling the process from seed to shelf allows us to protect what matters most: authenticity, flavor, quality, and consistency. But what we grow is only part of our story. We believe productive agriculture and conservation can—and should—work together. Our farming practices are designed to improve the land, conserve water, build healthier soils, and provide valuable habitat for wildlife. We’re farmers, millers, and conservationists. That connection to the land influences everything we do. Our company motto says it best: “All This for a Duck.” Because for us, growing exceptional food has never just been about the harvest. It’s about leaving something worth passing on.
