Blated® was officially founded in June 2020 by Harrison Cohen and Hannah Barrett, but the journey began years earlier through deeply personal struggles with body image, control, and health. Harrison's relationship with health and fitness started early, driven by body image insecurity that followed him from childhood into college. What began as "discipline" slowly turned into obsession. His life revolved around restrictive dieting, supplements, and appearance. Despite looking fit on the outside, he struggled with anxiety, disordered eating, and eventually substance use as a way to cope with feeling out of control. The pursuit of perfection only intensified the problem, and by his early twenties, the pressure and instability led him to drop out of school and rebuild his life from the ground up. Hannah's story followed a different path but echoed the same themes. After damaging comparisons in her teens, she became consumed by calorie counting, extreme cardio, and later competitive bodybuilding. Though she achieved the physical results she thought she wanted, her mental health suffered. Food became a source of anxiety, self-worth became tied to appearance, and control felt impossible to maintain. When Harrison and Hannah met in 2016, they bonded over insecurities neither had fully voiced before. Together, they began questioning the systems they were told were "healthy." Forced by budget and burnout, they shifted away from processed foods and expensive fitness products and toward whole foods and simple, single-ingredient nutrition. That same philosophy carried into supplements. Instead of buying branded blends full of additives, they began purchasing individual ingredients in bulk and measuring evidence-based doses themselves. It was cheaper, cleaner, and more intentional, but taking the powders was miserable. After experimenting, they discovered that swallowing powders wrapped in very thin paper eliminated the taste. The idea worked, but common paper was unsafe and unreliable. That problem sparked the idea for Blated. Blated was created to remove unnecessary additives and friction from how people consume supplements. What started as a personal solution became a mission to help others take control of their health without relying on artificial ingredients, extreme habits, or hype.
