In January of 2015, Jenn Harper had the most vivid dream of little Indigenous girls covered in colorful lip glosses. That dream is what gave birth to Cheekbone Beauty, one of the first Canadian Indigenous-owned and founded cosmetics companies. After reconnecting with her Indigenous roots and learning about the effects of residential schools from her grandmother, Jenn set off on her mission to build Cheekbone Beauty and to create a space in the beauty industry where everyone, including Indigenous people, feel represented and seen. The brand officially began in a corner of Jenn's basement in 2016, started with only $500, while she still worked full-time in seafood sales. Cheekbone Beauty became officially incorporated in Canada, and officially founded in 2018. Headquartered in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, founder Jenn strives to ensure only the best quality colour cosmetics receive the Cheekbone name. "Representation saves lives.
