What began in the 1950s as a cherished DeGrave family tradition—tapping trees, boiling sap, and savoring the simple joys of homemade syrup—has grown into a purpose-driven brand with a bold vision. In 2010, following the 2008 recession, our family returned to Michigan and revived the sugarbush as DeGrave Maple Syrup. What started as a small-scale retirement hobby quickly gained traction, fueled by demand for authentic, locally crafted maple products. As we grew, we remained true to the same values that guided us from the beginning: Goodness in = Goodness Out. Today, under the leadership of the next generation, The Sweet Spigot represents more than syrup—it's a family-owned ecosystem blending traditional sugaring methods with modern sustainability practices. From recyclable glass packaging to forest-friendly tapping and our commitment to locally produced, clean-label goods, every decision reflects our responsibility to both people and the land. Our award-winning maple cream, voted Michigan's Best in 2025, is a testament to our dedication to quality and craft.
