Neighborgoods

The Neighborgoods started as a side hustle back in 2014 while Jodi, the founder, also ran a graphic design business where she worked on everything from fashion illustrations to corporate reports. It was a love of designing packaging for cookies she made for her annual self-promotional client gift that began the shift in her career towards focusing on designing for brands in the food industry. To make that switch, she needed some food-related work for her portfolio, so Jodi began illustrating family recipes and veggies from farmers' markets to put on her website. Since it was close to the holidays, and because she was itching to get away from the computer to make some homemade gifts, she thought these new illustrated recipes would make great gifts printed onto dish towels for family and friends. After a little research on how involved the screen printing process is she decided not to make them that year for gifts, but to sign up for a screen printing class the following year to pursue this idea. She bought a bunch of dish towels, learned how to screen print, and the Neighborgoods slowly started to take form. Over the past 10 years, The Neighborgoods has become a full-time hustle, with a small team, which has allowed them to expand their line beyond dish towels to include tote bags, aprons, greeting cards, and more. They are sold in over 900 stores nationwide, including their own store in the DCA airport. These fun-loving products feature everyone's favorite foods and florals with some fun punny sayings thrown in, and are packaged ready-to-gift. The Neighborgoods is based in Washington DC, where all of their products are designs, hand packaged, and sent out with lots of love to brighten someone's day and make them smile.
