The story of this company and brand started with a husband and wife team in a small town in TN. In 2014, they opened a butcher shop and discovered their passion for creating an air-dried beef product originating from his home country of South Africa called biltong. People loved the simple, natural ingredients, tender texture, and delicate flavor of this unique product. Over the next couple of years, their commitment allowed them to grow and achieve USDA inspection, sharing their carefully crafted products—fresh and smoked sausages, salamis, steaks, and of course, biltong—with the nation. The challenges of the pandemic sparked a transformation, leading them to close their retail store and focus solely on perfecting air-dried meats. Thus, Biltong Depot was born in Centerville, TN. From humble beginnings in a corner butcher shop they channeled their passion for clean high-protein snacks to grow awareness for this specialized product across the United States. The product line now also includes dried beef sausages (drywors), offering a healthier alternative to traditional meat sticks with no fillers or artificial preservatives. Biltong Depot is on a mission to give people a genuine choice in healthy protein snacks – free from additives, allergens, sugar, artificial ingredients.
