Seven years ago, our founder Randy Zhang began questioning the materials behind everyday disposable products. As plastic pollution continued to impact oceans and ecosystems, he saw a larger systems problem, not just a waste problem, but a materials problem. That question led to research, experimentation, and collaboration with scientists specializing in fermentation, biomaterials, and sustainable chemistry. After years of development and testing in partnership with universities and research institutions in the United States, Corn Next introduced CornNext-17, a plant based material designed for short life applications. Today, Corn Next is building a new generation of materials engineered to perform in real use while aligning with a more responsible end of life. What began as a mission to reduce plastic pollution has evolved into a broader commitment to advancing material innovation for the future.
