Root & Splendor was born from a simple but frustrating truth: clean should work - and it should be safe. For founder Kristin Fracassi, that truth showed up every day in the form of four very active boys and endless piles of laundry. Grass stains, sweat, dirt, mystery odors - if it could happen to clothing, it did. As a mom, Kristin wanted products that could truly clean her family’s clothes without exposing them - or the planet - to questionable ingredients. What she found instead was a gap. Conventional detergents cleaned well but came with ingredient lists she couldn’t trust. “Natural” alternatives sounded better, but often fell short where it mattered most: performance. Natural didn’t always mean safe - and it certainly didn’t mean effective. Clothes came out still stained, still smelly, still not clean. So Kristin did what so many founders do when the solution doesn’t exist: she set out to create it. After five years of formulation alongside chemists and scientists, Root & Splendor launched in 2020 with a clear mission - to redefine clean through proven performance, uncompromising ingredient safety, and sustainability that actually matters.
