Waste Free Celebrations

We started as a small craft stand at a very small craft market in a very very small town in New Zealand. Within 12 months we were selling over $500k of reusables as New Zealanders and Australians chose to ditch the waste and embrace reusables. Not just good for the planet, our product is good for people. For the last three years, we employed Afghan refugees in NZ to sew for us however we recently moved our manufacturing to Afghanistan where we employ vulnerable women who have no other sources of income. (Our refugees in NZ have not been abandoned! We are working on new sewing projects for them). Our project in Kabul is headed by Rahila Sayed, a former Afghan refugee who has worked for WFC for the last three years in Auckland. She has returned to Afghanistan to help women who have no other source of livelihood. The Director of Waste Free Celebrations, Emma Conyngham, lived in Kabul for three years, working in the humanitarian sector and has a long history with the country and people. What started as a simple product, has now become a project where lives are changed and hope restored. Our product is simply the vehicle we use to help women in incredibly difficult circumstances.
