My whole life I grew up in the kitchen. Watching my mom and dad cook so they could provide for our family, but it was much more than that. They were offering a piece of themselves to the community that had not been done before. In 1996 my parents opened the first Mediterranean restaurant in Anaheim California, offering the community a taste of home that was so much needed. Now in present day 'Little Arabia' dozens of middle eastern restaurants and businesses followed suit. Over the years my parents grew famous for their falafel recipe and won many awards including "Best Falafel Mix" by OC WEEKLY. At this point my father used to package small one-pound falafel mix containers to the local market and would sell out the following week. His last words were "Don't change the recipe" .. Graduating high school I knew my purpose, and vowed to bring to the rest of the world a falafel they would never forget. Fresh falafel is almost a luxury nowadays and can only be found a specific restaurants across the United States. Kareem's brings this staple food item back home with ease and comfort.
