As a biologist and natural resources manager, Cecilia Valencia, the founder, has led conservation development projects in rural Mexico, where she became aware of living conditions in these communities, and the environmental degradation the country was facing. Living in Vancouver, Canada at the time, Cecilia identified a growing need to design and provide plastic-free and zero-waste products to the market. Sayula Products was born with the mission to create and distribute biodegradable and sustainable products, sourced directly from Mexican rural communities with limited economic resources. This helps to boost these communities and improve their quality of life. The goal was to provide products that address the need to develop socially, environmentally and economically sustainable opportunities in Mexico; that are biodegradable and use native plant species that naturally grow in the region, don't require much water or use harmful practices, like the use of pesticides and fertilizers. We work directly with rural communities to help them improve their quality of life by providing stable income and fair prices that directly benefit people in these communities.
