Food Huggers

Food Huggers was founded in 2013 by Michelle Ivankovic and Adrienne McNicholas. After years of working both together and independently to create exciting new inventions for the home, we began to focus on creating a solution to better store leftover halves of fruits and vegetables. In 2013, Kickstarter was an exciting venue for launching new products directly to the public. We decided that although items for the home and kitchen were unheard of on Kickstarter at that time, we dubbed ourselves "Chickstarters" and launched our namesake design on June 13th 2013. We hoped to raise $24,000 but surpassed that and raised $184,000 in just 30 days. The success of the launch inspired us to continue and push further on our goals to design and sell a full suite of tools that make it as easy as possible for people to keep their food fresh without plastic/foil waste. Keeping food fresh is the most key part of avoiding food waste at home. By reducing food waste and replacing wasteful single use plastics with reusable tools, we hope to help all our customers to be more sustainable without giving up the convenience they are used to.
