We're Prime Roots, a plant-based meat company that's passionately dedicated to crafting first-of-its-kind freshly sliced deli meat and charcuterie. Since 2017, we've been on a mission to reimagine the old-world deli case by making a better plant-based deli meat?one that's not only sustainable, but also satisfies your cravings for the umami taste and texture of animal meat. We both grew up proud omnivores, but the more we learned about?the health and planet impacts of conventional meat, the more?we saw the need for a cleaner, more wholesome option that's every bit as delicious.? After meeting at UC Berkeley, we began experimenting with koji, a traditional ingredient found in soy and miso that's akin to the roots of mushrooms. This set us off on a five-year journey to craft plant-based deli favorites like mouthwatering sugar shack maple ham, cracked pepper turkey, salami, pepperoni charcuterie, bacon, p‚tÈ, and foie gras?all made with care using the very same epicurean processes that still go into conventional deli meat.?In addition to mimicking meat's delicious umami taste and texture, Prime Roots products?contain plant protein, fiber, no cholesterol, nitrates, antibiotics, hormones, preservatives, artificial flavors, soy, wheat, allergens, or GMOs.?It's just our way of helping the Earth, and our bodies, one slice at a time.
