Our founder Xin Ma is a 3rd generation TCM Traditional Chinese Medicine healthcare professional who has 20+ years of in-clinic experience and has directly treated 10,000+ patients. Born into a family of medicine, she was inspired from a very young age to pursue the same path. The 3 family members have a combined experience of 78 years! Xin has treated all kinds of ailments including musculoskeletal, digestive, reproductive, and countless dermatological issues. The foundation of TCM is the discovery of root causes of ailments in the body and then treating patients with natural, simple, and effective remedies. Three years ago Xin relocated to a new area, and noticed a correlation between the quality of her tap water and her own facial skin. She was able to deduce that her extremely dry and irritated skin was caused by her water supply. After doing a deep dive into the tap water system, Xin realized there is a population-wide exposure to pollutants, chemicals, and micro-contaminants in the United States' tap water system. According to the EWG, (environmental working group), over 200M people in the United States have exposure to these contaminants in their home water supply. Scientists have found links between a number of these chemicals in our water supply, to many health concerns, including skin disease, kidney disease, and immune dysfunction amongst others. Dermatologists agree chlorine, hard metals, and micro-contaminants in tap water harm the skin, especially for people with sensitive and problematic skin. She just knew she had to do something about it, and this is how Filterbaby was born!
