Cultured Ghee

Cultured Ghee is a traditional form of ghee, prepared from cultured organic butter. During the culturing process, the milk solids contained within the butter change just like when milk is cultured into yogurt. The sugar in the milk solids, in the form of lactose, is converted to lactic acid. The cultured butter is then slowly cooked until all water is removed and remaining cultured milk solids are lightly toasted, and the oil within the butter—the ghee—is poured off and strained. The fermentation process used to prepare cultured ghee adds a slightly sour taste. We culture our organic butter with certified organic buttermilk for 3-4 days before heating and turning the concoction into ghee. Savor the distinctive taste and unparalleled quality of our Organic Cultured Ghee.
