Fortae

Fortae was founded by Susan Arntson, an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, with a vision for modern care that feels beautiful, purposeful, and easy to live with. The idea grew from Susan’s own search for products her family could feel good about using, especially while navigating sensitive skin, allergies, and fragrance sensitivities. Rather than filling the shelf with products for different purposes, she envisioned elevated care that could do more with less. That vision became the Áine collection: multipurpose oils thoughtfully formulated for face, body + hair, made with clean ingredients and no added fragrance. The collection brings together modern formulation with details rooted in Susan’s family and heritage. Sweetgrass is woven into the Áine collection, while the pattern on Fortae’s packaging is pulled from a cornhusk bag made by Susan’s grandmother, a way of carrying family, artistry, and story forward through contemporary design. Even the name Fortae is personal. The “TAE” represents Susan’s three children, Thorin, Ady, and Ella, whose presence is reflected in the rays of the Fortae sun. Fortae is also built around the belief that growth should create impact. Through Glow + Give Back, the brand supports Indigenous youth programs. From its Pacific Northwest roots, Fortae is creating a new kind of multipurpose care: clean, elevated, travel-ready, and deep in purpose.
