Chikka Chikka

Growing up we would go to other families houses and each family would have their own fennel seed mixes they would put out after dinner. Sabeen would make and roast her own mixes because the ones in the Indian stores - which many people know from Indian restaurants - are full of sugar and weird artificial flavors and colors. We brought along some of Sabeen's mix on a hike with our friends Joel and Molly and they loved it and asked where they could buy it. Another friend suggested that we replace the sugar with local maple syrup from the Catskill Mountains and that turned out to be magical. As far as we can tell we are the only ones in the world making a mix like this, combining East and West. Prior to this we owned and ran a restaurant for 7 years. Basically we bought an abandoned biker bar in a rural area and turned it into a well loved community restaurant, that continues to succeed with the new owners.
