In 2002, Brook Eddy traveled to India to research Bhakti — a philosophy rooted in devotion through social action. What she didn't expect was to fall completely in love with chai. Shared cup by cup with families across the country, masala chai became more than a drink; it was a ritual, a connection, a sensory experience she couldn't leave behind. Upon returning home, Brook developed a recipe using her own unique blend of fresh-pressed, organic ginger and fiery spices to share her travels with friends so they could experience "India In A Cup." Realizing there was a hole in the chai market for fresh, clean, preservative-free spicy chai, she began bottling and distributing her brew to friends and family, and before she knew it local cafés were placing orders. In 2006, Bhakti Chai was officially born — a Boulder-based, woman-founded company built with a commitment to crafting premium quality chai, and a conviction that enterprise should be a vehicle for social good. Nearly two decades later, that founding spirit is unchanged. Bhakti is still woman-led, still brewed with the same fiery fresh-pressed ginger recipe — brimming with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and immune-boosting benefits — and still devoted to clean, organic ingredients sustainably sourced from around the world, and to partnerships with organizations championing women, justice, and the planet.
