Montana Flavor was founded in 2020 by Chef Shelly Meyer and her chef son, Hunter, but our roots go back decades in professional kitchens and catering. While operating an upscale family steakhouse, we developed a deep understanding of flavor, consistency, and what it takes to create food that people remember. Guests repeatedly asked to purchase our steak seasoning for their own kitchens, revealing an opportunity to elevate the grocery aisle. Later, when Shelly transitioned to private cheffing for clients with specific dietary needs, she saw a glaring gap in the market: most store-bought blends relied heavily on sugar, artificial sweeteners, and fillers. Instead of compromising, we developed a full line of clean, bold, chef-trusted formulas built from pure spices and herbs, utilizing less sodium and zero unnecessary additives. What started as small batches to satisfy our restaurant guests and private clients became the foundation of Montana Flavor: premium seasonings designed to enhance food naturally, not overpower it. In 2023, this mission took on deeper personal meaning when Shelly was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This diagnosis reinforced our unwavering commitment to wellness, transparency, and formulating without refined sugars or artificial ingredients—proving you never have to sacrifice taste for health.
