Third generation poultry farmer Ruud Zanders challenged himself to start a farm designed to have least environmental impacts, better animal care, and bringing consumers along on the journey to see to what extent this is possible. He founded Kipster together with another young, beginning poultry farmer, a seasoned marketing and branding executive, and a renewable energy entrepreneur. Their goal was to find a way to feed the world's population in an honest way, and not passing any cost to future generations. We opened the first farm in the Netherlands in October 2017. Since then people have visited us from all over the world to see how our revolutionary farm operates, including Americans. We started together with a franchisee farm partner in Indiana in October 2022. The farm's lay out has been designed together with experts from the animal welfare community and NGOs. The upcycled feed and circular farming concept has been worked out together with experts at Wageningen University and Research at the Netherlands animal feed nutritionists and veterinarians. The operational side has been designed together with poultry system providers and poultry genetics companies. We invite all stakeholders to come visit the farm, and continuously help us improve the approach and concept. Media, NGOs, politicians, customers, consumers, neighbors are all welcome to grab a coffee at the visitor center to see the chickens and learn more about their lives. We share fun and not so fun facts and educational videos via our social media channels, and everyone can see the chickens live through streaming from the farm to our YouTube channel. (@kipster.farm).
