Our family started this journey when we purchased a 250 acre blackcurrant farm in beautiful Pleasant Point, New Zealand. We fell in love with this amazing fruit that has so many health-promoting benefits. While traditionally blackcurrants have been used in beverages and jams, we decided to develop products that captured the full nutritional/polyphenol essence of the fruit. We also saw the need for the products to be 100% pure and sustainably grown and hence the conversion to organic production in 2008. It was also important that the products we offer are convenient to use and inexpensive to ship, hence we developed a range of products including whole freeze dried fruit, powder, soft dried and even some tasty chocolate rolled With this story and the wealth of scientific research on blackcurrant health benefits, our challenge has been to effectively spread awareness of blackcurrants, a less well- known traditional remedy, and refine production to ensure we meet the standards demanded of health products.
