GULAPA

GULAPA was founded by a couple whose connection to coconut sugar began during their high school years. However, the type of coconut sugar they were familiar with was different from the products they would later develop. In early 2021, the couple had the opportunity to travel to Central Java, where they met with local farmers and engaged in meaningful discussions about the challenges surrounding coconut sugar production. The farmers shared, "We are struggling with our income because of the low price of traditional coconut sugar blocks." Inspired by the farmers' stories, the couple felt compelled to make a difference. They envisioned improving the farmers' livelihoods by developing coconut sugar in new forms, particularly granules, which offer greater value and versatility in the market. By mid-2021, they established PT. Berkat Petani Indonesia (GULAPA). The name reflects their mission: to be a blessing and to uplift the living standards of local farmers in the Banyumas and Purbalingga regions of Central Java by forming strong partnerships and giving back to the community.
