Big Dipper Wax Works was founded by Brent Roose in 1993, a time when there were no natural candles on the market. It was clear to Brent that he wanted to make the highest quality, most natural and sustainable candles possible, and beeswax was the obvious choice. He started hand dipping beeswax tapers outdoors in the woods under the stars and was inspired by the Big Dipper constellation. Making the connection between dipping tapers under the Big Dipper, both being a natural source of light, he decided to name the company Big Dipper Wax Works.
