Foraged & Found

Ketchikan, AK

Foraged & Found is a natural products brand from Ketchikan, AK with 3 products on Beacon Discovery, mostly shelf stable pickles & olives and refrigerated condiments. Its range is distributed by UNFI.

Foraged & Found's journey began with a bold leap. In 2016, Jenn Brown, a high-flying corporate marketing exec who'd cut her teeth at Google, Microsoft, and Paramount Pictures, decided to trade boardrooms for galleys. A sabbatical turned serendipitous when she landed a job as a yacht chef, transforming her home-cook hobby into professional culinary prowess. But it was Alaska's pristine coastal waters that truly captured Jenn's imagination. Surrounded by an abundance of nutrient-rich kelp, she saw potential where others saw seaweed. A lightbulb moment struck: why wasn't anyone making this superfood accessible and delicious for everyday consumers? In 2018, armed with marketing savvy and newfound culinary skills, Jenn founded Foraged & Found. Her mission? Revolutionize pantry staples with kelp. Her first creation, Kelp Pickles, was a gamechanger - familiar comfort food with a superfood twist. Word spread fast. Soon, Whole Foods buyers came knocking, recognizing the unique appeal of Jenn's kelp-based innovations. This early vote of confidence propelled Foraged & Found forward, expanding the product line to include Kelp Pasta Sauces, Kelp Salsas, and Sea Asparagus Pesto. But Jenn's vision extended beyond the jar. Witnessing firsthand the challenges of food security in rural Alaska, she founded the Ketchikan Agricultural Producers Association (KAPA), a nonprofit empowering local producers. Sustainability became the cornerstone of Foraged & Found's ethos. Jenn forged partnerships with local regulators to ensure responsible wild harvesting and launched a kelp replanting program - a jar sold, a kelp plant grown. Today, Foraged & Found is more than a food company; it's a movement. Each product invites consumers to nourish their bodies while supporting coastal ecosystems and communities. From corporate boardrooms to Alaskan waters, from a small kitchen to Whole Foods shelves, Jenn's journey embodies the brand's spirit: innovative, sustainable, and deeply connected to the sea. As Foraged & Found continues to grow, it remains anchored to its roots, proving that with creativity and commitment, it's possible to make waves in the food industry while nurturing the very waters that inspired it all.
