Massa Pizza Company

Our family has been in the food business since the 60s. It all started with my dad's parents - Pina and Giuseppe - who owned and operated a very popular Italian Restaurant and Italian Bar. They were Italian immigrants who wanted to bring the true taste of Italy to Chicago whether that be with Nonna's famous served-out-of-the-pan pasta or my Nonno's authentic gelato and freshly roasted coffee. My dad grew up in the business and from a young age had a very strong passion for it! In 1999, my dad and mom (Angelo and Giovanna) opened their own restaurant, Massa Café Italiano, which has been a staple in Chicago for 25 years. One of the food items we would become widely known for is our assortment of Sicilian Style Bakery pizza which was a recipe from my Nonna's restaurant. She would serve this style focaccia as table service bread for her patrons and my dad went on to adapt and evolve the recipe to what it is today, topping it with delicious ingredients. About 6-7 years ago, my dad was walking the freezer aisle at the grocery store and realized that there wasn't anything special or quality about the frozen pizzas being offered. He didn't see anything that he would feel comfortable serving alongside Sunday dinner and thought our recipe from the restaurant would be a great frozen item! After years of research and development, product testing, recipe perfecting, Massa Pizza Company was born in 2018.
