Gut Bar

Coming from a pharmaceutical background, then staying home to raise my children, I became increasingly interested in a more holistic/integrative, "food is medicine" approach to my family's health and wellness. Shortly before COVID, I studied functional health and nutrition and was certified as a Functional Medicine Health Coach. I came away understanding Gut Health is integral to overall health and that the microbiome should be considered another organ. My husband and I owned a small hobby farm where, inspired by a neighbor farmer, we began growing aronia berries. I understood that, because of the various antioxidant compounds they contain, consuming berries was one of the best things you can do to proliferate the good bacteria in your gut. When my husband began eating the aronia berries, he noticed an improvement in his digestion issues. I dug into the weeds on aronia and discovered the massive amounts of data that showed the benefits of aronia on gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, brain health, and so much more. These little berries contain the most antioxidants of any other berry and some sources claim of any other fruit. Either way, they have been shown to be a boon to overall health. The problem with the berries is that they are so astringent and full of tanins, they are hard to consume alone and are best with other foods. I wanted to create something delicious that contained a lot of the berries and surround it only with good for you healthy ingredients. So we created a nutrition bar in four flavors. Knowing that gut health should be the main focus of concentrating on our overall wellness, we decided to call it Gut Bar. We knew the berries could lend to good gut health, so we decided to make available a dried product containing only aronia with a touch of chicory root prebiotic fiber. Gut Bar Powder was born and the feedback is nothing short of amazing. We KNOW we are embarking on a journey that will help people take control of their health.
