Nestled in the lush Rio Dulce, Izabal, Guatemala, is a tale of resilience and heritage - Joopa Kacaou Farms, 'Food of the Gods'. More than a cacao plantation, it's a symbol of our family's overcoming adversity and rebirth. Tracing back to 2011, the true essence of our farm dates back much further. The land, vibrant and full of life, lay dormant for over two decades after the tragic murder of our father there. In 2010, we, filled with hope and longing for connection to our past, set out to rejuvenate this land. Transforming what was once cattle grassland into a cacao haven was not only a tribute to our heritage but a move towards sustainable farming. After 20 years of nature's reclamation, we chose a crop in harmony with the forest - cacao, deeply ingrained in Guatemala's history. This choice also honored our great-grandfather, founder of Guatemala's first chocolate factory in the 1940s, thus continuing our family's cacao legacy. Today, Joopa Kacaou Farms embodies our family's resilience and commitment. As small-scale cacao producers, we've channeled our grief into cultivating 100% natural cacao products, devoid of artificial additives, colors, or preservatives. Our focus goes beyond creating consumer products; we strive to preserve cacao's purity, reflecting our dedication to health-conscious, quality food. Our journey is one of transforming loss into a lasting legacy, maintaining a connection with our heritage, and bringing the rich, pure flavors of Guatemalan cacao to the world.
