Sidekick Soda

Crafting a healthy soda that hits the spot wasn't an easy quest. Traditional options were too sugary, while newer ones lacked flavor and were loaded with unpronounceable sweeteners. I realised if I craved a better-for-you soda with actual taste, others probably did too. Thus, Sidekick Soda came to life. My upbringing revolved around Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) drinks, affectionately known as "shrubs," as Mum swore by ACV for overall health. Transforming Mum's concoction into Sidekick Soda was a challenge. Her brew of real fruit, ACV, raw sugar, and a touch of honey leaned more towards medicinal than enjoyable... so the mission to turn "medicinal" into "delicious" began. During lockdown, my kitchen became a flavor laboratory. Months were spent tinkering with diverse flavor blends - balancing the acidity of the vinegar, bringing out the flavours of the fruit and getting the sweetness level just right was, well... challenging! My son, Rogie, who was living at the other end of the country at the time, was receiving my homemade samples to test and eventually, with the help of a beverage expert, we developed the final result of our healthy, yet delicious little soda. So here we present to you, after three years in the making, our Sidekick Soda. A blend of nature's best, developed with thought, genuine intentions and a passion for better health. Real fruit puree, organic apple cider vinegar, and New Zealand honey sweeten this refreshing hero's drink—a flavorful sidekick suitable for heroes of all ages, any time of day.
